Dear Neighbor, Thanksgiving Day gives us the opportunity to reflect on all we have to be grateful for, and to share that gratitude with family and friends. In fact, the grocery bags on my counter right now—and very possibly yours—say, “Count Blessings, Not Carbs.” Here in the Seventh Congressional District of Texas, we have many blessings to count. I am grateful for the privilege of representing you and our neighbors throughout the district. Our community’s values of inclusion, innovation, and collaboration demonstrate to the world what makes this such a special place to live. And, while we may have different opinions, different priorities, and different ideas of how to get things done, we work together to solve problems, to seize opportunities, and to care for and celebrate each other. We know that we share a great privilege of living together in this welcoming community, in this great country, and on this beautiful Earth. And those are all things we should be grateful for. And while we have many blessings, we still have much work to do. I am confident that we can do it, because I see it happening here at home. From town halls and community conversations, to visits in the grocery store or the office, I have been struck by the thoughtful, respectful engagement of the people who live here on matters of great importance to us all – for our present and our future. So, today, I thank you for your partnership and for the promise that our community represents for this country.
