Texas’ Seventh Congressional District is home to innovation and new ideas. Federal grants may be available to foster that innovation. Small businesses, technology startups, scientists, academics, and others may qualify for federal grant funding. Although our office cannot directly assist constituents in obtaining grants, we want to share the following information and encourage constituents to take advantage of these opportunities.

The federal government—along with state and local government and non-governmental entities—sets aside funding for grant projects through legislation. A grant is the transfer of anything of value from the federal government to a non-federal entity to carry out a public purpose authorized by U.S. law. A federal grant can help you find job opportunities, learn new skills, mitigate against future natural disasters, and a broad scope of other projects.

There are a number of grants available and they change each year. Here are some available now:

  1. Are you eligible? Find out here.
  2. Get program information at the GSA’s System for Award Management website, for people who make, receive, and manage federal grants.
  3. Check out federal grants opportunities at Grants.gov, obtain a Dun and Bradstreet (DUNS) number, and keep an eye out for additional notices at FedConnect.net.
  4. Search non-governmental foundations for project funding using Candid.org for grants from community, state, and national foundations.
  5. Where can I get help writing a grant application?

And as always, you may refer to the grants page on our website which has more details.

I look forward to seeing what residents of our community can achieve!

Cordially,
