As you may know, the Trump administration recently laid off nearly 7,000 IRS employees and may order further staffing cuts. These actions could lead to delays in resolving tax return errors and issuing tax refunds. I am monitoring this situation closely, and I have joined my Democratic colleagues in efforts pressing the IRS Commissioner for answers about how the IRS will ensure effective service for taxpayers. With this in mind, I want to encourage you to file your taxes early.
