Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher To Chair House Science, Space, and Technology Subcommittee on Energy

(Washington, DC) – Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) was elected Chair of the Subcommittee on Energy of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee.

“As a representative for the energy capital of the world, I have worked with my colleagues, subject matter experts, and my constituents to learn about, invest in, and advocate for energy resources and technology.  I am proud to continue this work as the Chair for the Energy Subcommittee,” said Congresswoman Fletcher.  “I look forward to working with Ranking Member Weber to lead the subcommittee and to support the critical research and development efforts we need for our energy future.”

The House Subcommittee on Energy has jurisdiction over all matters relating to energy research, development, and demonstration projects therefor; commercial application of energy technology; Department of Energy research, development, and demonstration programs; Department of Energy laboratories; Department of Energy science activities; energy supply activities; nuclear, solar, and renewable energy, and other advanced energy technologies; uranium supply and enrichment, and Department of Energy waste management; fossil energy research and development; clean coal technology; energy conservation research and development, including building performance, alternate fuels, distributed power systems, and industrial process improvements; pipeline research, development, and demonstration projects; Energy standards; and other appropriate matters as referred by Committee Chairwoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX-30).
