Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) announced that restaurants across Houston and Harris County are able to apply for direct relief through the American Rescue Plan’s Restaurant Revitalization Fund beginning today at 11:00 PM CT. Applicants can register on the U.S. Small Business Administration’s application portal.
In order to help restaurant owners navigate this program, Congresswoman Fletcher will host a Restaurant Revitalization Fund Webinar in partnership with the Houston Small Business Administration District Office next Monday, May 10, at 11:30 AM. Restaurant owners with questions about this newly available funding are welcome to join and can RSVP here.
“Houston is a food town, with some of the best cuisine in the country. Unfortunately, the restaurant industry has been deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. “I fought for the inclusion of targeted assistance for restaurants in the American Rescue Plan, and was glad to see it included. Now, I encourage restaurants who need support to apply, or to join in next week’s webinar to learn more about the program.”
The $28.6 billion Restaurant Revitalization Fund was created by the American Rescue Plan. The law incorporated key provisions from the RESTAURANTS Act, which Congresswoman Fletcher co-sponsored.
The Restaurant Revitalization Fund provides restaurants and other eligible businesses with funding equal to their pandemic-related revenue loss up to $10 million per business. The relief does not have to be repaid, provided that the funds are put toward eligible uses by March 11, 2023. Entities eligible to apply include restaurants, food stands, food trucks, food carts, caterers, bakeries, and more.
