Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher Announces 10,000 Cases Resolved on Behalf of Texas’ Seventh Congressional District Residents

  • 10,000 Cases

Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) announced her office has successfully resolved 10,000 cases for residents of Texas’ Seventh Congressional District.  Her office assists residents with matters before federal agencies, including obtaining benefits from Social Security, Medicare, and the Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as addressing matters before the Small Business Administration, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, Internal Revenue Service, and others.

“Every day, our team works to serve our constituents on matters of all kinds, including seeking assistance with federal agencies,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher.  “I am grateful to the residents of Texas’ Seventh Congressional District who have put their trust in me and my team to help with some of their most pressing needs and resolve their issues.  I am proud of our team and of this remarkable milestone, and look forward to continuing to serve our neighbors and help our community in every way we can.”

Below are some testimonials from constituents Congresswoman Fletcher and her team have helped:

General Services Administration

“Our non-profit, named after my son, needed its federal registration renewed in order to continue receiving grant funding to serve the community and honor my son’s legacy. During our attempts to renew the registration, we experienced technical errors and were unable to get technical support to resolve the issue.  With the renewal deadline approaching, we were at risk of having to lay off employees and stop services to the community.  We were anxious and afraid and sought help from Rep. Fletcher's team.  Rep. Fletcher's team in Houston and D.C. were kind, patient, and advocated for us before the General Services Administration.  Within days, the technical error was resolved and we were able to move forward with the renewal process and meet the deadline.

“We are so grateful for the advocacy and support. Resolving the error has saved 45 jobs and 2,000 families continuing to receive education and mental health services.  Thank you Rep. Fletcher and your team!”

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services

“My legal permanent resident status was about to expire in a few days.  I was struggling to book an appointment with the United States and Immigration Services (USCIS) due to a backlog at their offices.  I urgently needed a stamp I-551 as proof of legal residence for work and international travel.  I travel internationally for work and personal reasons and was becoming nervous as the expiration date was approaching.  I made several attempts to request an appointment over the phone, but each time I would receive the same automatic response informing me that there are no slots available.  Not knowing what else to do, I decided to contact the office of Rep. Fletcher.  Fatimah on her team acknowledged my request and submitted it to the USCIS office on the same day.

“In less than two business days, she contacted me again to confirm that she had obtained an appointment for me. I cannot describe the relief and gratitude I felt. Thank you, Rep. Fletcher and Fatimah for your service to our community. Your work makes a difference.”

United States Department of State

“I reached out to Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher’s Office to help me get my Naturalization Certificate back, which I had sent to the National Passport Processing Center to get a new passport.  At the time of my application for the new passport, I was told at the Passport Application Center that the supporting document was going to be mailed within 15 days after I received my passport.  After 15 days of receiving my new passport and not receiving my document back, I called the number I was given and was not able to reach anyone except for a recorded message saying it would be mailed in four weeks.  Four weeks passed, nothing.  Eight weeks passed, still no certificate back. I decided that it was time I needed help.

“I reached out to Congresswoman Fletcher’s Office and immediately got a response from her Houston Office.  A week or so after that, I received my Naturalization Certificate, which I had had since 1973.  Without Congresswoman Fletcher’s help, I think I would still be waiting for it.  Thank you very much.”
