Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) released the following statement following the vote to remove Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House: 

“Today is a somber and serious day for the House of Representatives and for the country.  For the first time in more than 100 years, the House has voted on a motion to remove the Speaker of the House.  It is now time for the House Republican Conference to nominate a new speaker.  I hope they will reject the extreme partisanship that got us here and work in a bipartisan way for the good of the country and the Congress.”
