WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) and Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX-30) led a bipartisan letter with Texas members of the U.S. House to the U.S. Surface Transportation Board urging support for Texas Central’s Dallas to Houston high-speed rail project.
“Our region is rapidly growing, and this is a once in a generation opportunity to lead the nation with a high-speed rail project that will connect the economies of North Texas and Houston,” said Congressman Allred. “I am proud our delegation is working together in a bipartisan way to support this effort and I am dedicated to doing whatever I can as a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to help this project succeed.” “In Texas, the need for new investments for transportation is clear and the benefit these would bring is profound. A high-speed rail system between our state’s two-largest metropolitan areas would greatly improve travel between two engines of economic opportunity and growth,” said Congresswoman Johnson. “In addition to offering a new option to the currently worn travel methods between Dallas and Houston, this high-speed rail project would benefit the environment in addition to the economy. I am delighted to lead this bipartisan letter alongside my colleague, Congressman Allred, in promoting this promising proposal.” The letter was also signed by Reps. John Carter (TX-31), Kay Granger (TX-12), Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18), Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07), Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), Van Taylor (TX-03), Lance Gooden (TX-05) and Roger Williams (TX-25). https://www.dallasweekly.com/articles/representatives-allred-and-johnson-lead-bipartisan-letter-supporting-dallas-to-houston-high-speed-rail-project/ |
