(Houston, TX) – Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) released her 2020 Mid-Year Report detailing her work in the first half of the year.  The report highlights Congresswoman Fletcher’s bipartisanship record, legislation she has introduced and passed, and constituent casework statistics.   

“This has been an unprecedented year for Congress and for our district,” said Congresswoman Fletcher.  “The challenges and changes to our lives that the pandemic has brought have been the focus of much of the work of the Congress.  At the same time, my team and I have continued work on other matters of importance to our community.  I am glad to share some of the highlights of the first six months of the year and of the 116th Congress to date in this report.”

Highlights include: 

• Bipartisanship Record: 97 percent of the votes Congresswoman Fletcher has taken to date in the 116 Congress have been bipartisan, and 83 percent have been overwhelmingly bipartisan (more than 2/3 in the House voting in favor). 

• Constituent Casework: Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher’s office has so far resolved 754 COVID-19 related cases, including 140 Economic Impact Payment cases, 318 unemployment claims cases, and 243 small business cases. 

• Connecting with Constituents: Congresswoman Fletcher has hosted nine telephone town halls and small business webinars to answer questions directly related to COVID-19 and its impact on small businesses. 

• Legislation: Bills and amendments that Congresswoman Fletcher passed in the House of Representatives this year include: 
  • An amendment to provide $45 million in Hurricane Harvey relief funds passed as part of supplemental disaster legislation in February. 
  • Legislation introduced with Congresswoman Barragan to protect Medicaid funding for hospitals by postponing the Trump Administration’s Medicaid Fiscal Accountability Regulation for two years also passed as a part of The Heroes Act.
  • Legislation bill to protect first responders and the environment from PFAS chemicals in firefighting foam passed as a part of the PFAS Action Act of 2019.

In addition to the report, Congresswoman Fletcher also held a Mid-Year Telephone Town Hall with more than 2,000 people in the district participating.  Constituents asked questions regarding COVID-19, the Justice in Policing Act, saving the United States Postal Service, and more.
