Today, Congresswomen Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) and Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) donated 3,000 N95 masks to Legacy Community Health Southwest Clinic as a part of their commitment to ensuring Houston’s frontline workers have the protective equipment they need to stay safe. The clinic serves an important role in a predominately Latino community, which has been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Houston. “For years, Legacy has served our most vulnerable communities in our district, and through the COVID-19 pandemic it has played an essential role in making sure people can get the care they need,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. “I was glad to partner with Congresswoman Garcia in providing this vital equipment to our health care workers to help them do their work of keeping our community safe and healthy.” “In the Houston region and across the country, the Latino community has been disproportionately affected by COVID-19,” said Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia. “That is why I was proud to partner with Congresswoman Fletcher in providing N95 masks to health care providers at Legacy’s Southwest Clinic, which predominantly serves the Latino community. Legacy has been a critical partner in saving lives and keeping our communities healthy during this pandemic, and we are proud to support them in their continued efforts to reduce the spread of the virus and provide high-quality care to vulnerable communities across the Houston region.” “Legacy is grateful to Congresswomen Fletcher and Garcia for donating these masks for our health providers. As we are on the front lines of this pandemic, donations like these help us drive healthy change in our communities. Legacy’s services and programs are open to all who need us, regardless of the ability to pay, without judgment or exception,” said Dr. Vian Nguyen, Chief Medical Officer, Legacy Community Health. |
