Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher announced that ten community health centers across Houston will receive more than $61.9 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds.  Specifically, health centers will be able to use the funding to support and expand COVID-19 vaccination, testing, and treatment for vulnerable populations; deliver needed preventive and primary health care services to those at higher risk for COVID-19; and expand health centers’ operational capacity during the pandemic and beyond, including modifying and improving physical infrastructure and adding mobile units. 

“Community health centers across Houston are working around the clock to combat COVID-19.  They have been on the frontlines of this public health emergency, working to ensure that health care is available to those who may otherwise not have access to it,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher.  “I was proud to work in Congress to ensure the American Rescue Plan Act supports COVID-19 testing, vaccinations, and treatment for vulnerable populations, and I am glad to announce that nearly $62 million in federal funding for these efforts is coming to our region.” 

The funding will be awarded beginning in April by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).  In total, the state of Texas is set to receive $400,947,875 to support 72 health centers.  Below is a list of the community health centers in Houston that are set to receive funding:
