TOMORROW, Friday, March 26, at 11:30 AM CT: Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) and West University Place Mayor Bob Higley will stand with West University leaders to highlight the vital support provided by the American Rescue Plan.  West University Place is estimated to receive $3.4 million in federal funding through the COVID-19 relief legislation that was recently signed into law, helping shore up the city’s budget and continue providing essential services to residents.  Congresswoman Fletcher and Mayor Higley will be joined by city council leaders.  The press conference will be held outdoors by the police department entrance and social distancing protocols will be in place.

The American Rescue Plan provides $350 billion in funding for state and local governments.  Texas is estimated to receive $16.7 billion in federal aid, with its cities and counties set to receive nearly $11 billion more.  Approximately $1.54 billion is estimated to be distributed to cities and governments in Texas Seventh Congressional District.
