Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher Statement on President Biden’s Address to a Joint Session of Congress
Washington,
April 29, 2021
Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s Address to a Joint Session of Congress: “President Biden spoke tonight about the progress we have made toward getting our country back on track. In his first 100 days, he has worked to deliver on his promise to confront the multiple, unprecedented challenges our country faces. In no space is this more evident than in the progress made against the COVID-19 pandemic. The President has acted with the urgency needed to end the pandemic that has plagued us for the past year—and we see the direct results of these efforts. Through the American Rescue Plan, more Americans now have access to the COVID-19 vaccine than ever before; families, businesses, and communities have direct relief; and health care is more accessible and affordable to families across the country. I have been proud to work as a partner in Congress to ensure our community has the support it needs in all of these efforts. “President Biden also spoke about the ways we must build on this momentum—and build back better. We remain in a difficult time in our country’s history—and there is a long road ahead of all of us to rebuild our economy and restore the trust the American people have in government. Tonight, President Biden addressed the many challenges ahead of us with a vision of hope and unity. Through this leadership, and by working together, we can rise to the occasion and deliver for the American people.” |
