Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher Announces 2021 Congressional App ChallengeStudents in TX-07 Invited to Enter Challenge for Congressional Recognition
Houston,
July 8, 2021
Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) called on students across Texas’ Seventh Congressional District to submit their apps to the Congressional App Challenge (CAC). The annual competition, run by Congresswoman Fletcher’s office and judged by digital professionals in the district, provides an opportunity for student coders to hone their skills in an increasingly digital world. “I am excited to host this year’s App Challenge and to highlight the innovation and creativity of our district’s young coders,” said Congresswoman Fletcher. “So far, students in TX-07 have built apps to address food insecurity and keep people safe during the pandemic—engines for good, of which I hope we will see more.” The CAC encourages middle and high school students to learn how to code by creating their own programs or apps. This will be the third CAC Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher has hosted for Texas’ Seventh Congressional District. The winner will be selected in November by a panel of local judges. The winning apps will be publicly recognized on House.gov and on the Congressional App Challenge website, and winners will be eligible for additional prizes by sponsors. Winners will also be invited to a Capitol Hill Reception in Washington, D.C. 2021 CAC Timeline and Details: July 8: Official registration begins Those who wish to compete in the challenge must register and submit their app to CongressionalAppChallenge.us before November 1, 2021. Resources are available here. Further information about the Congressional App Challenge is available at www.CongressionalAppChallenge.us |
