Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher Hosts Community Conversation on Four-Year Anniversary of Hurricane Harvey
Houston,
August 25, 2021
(Houston, TX) — Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) held a virtual Hurricane Harvey Community Conversation last night marking four years after the storm hit Houston. The event featured U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District Commander Colonel Timothy Vail, Harris County Flood Control District Interim Executive Director Alan Black, and Houston Chief Recovery Officer Steve Costello. They discussed local, agency, and congressional work to address recovery and flood mitigation projects and answered constituent questions. “Hurricane Harvey had profound impacts on our community and has shaped our region,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. “In the aftermath, we learned valuable lessons about who we are as a community, and how much we can accomplish when we come together as neighbors to help one another. And it is critical that we continue to apply these lessons as we prepare for future storms. I am grateful for the work and the partnership of tonight’s panelists in this effort, and I thank them for joining our community conversation to provide critical updates and answer questions.” You can watch the full community conversation here. |
