Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher Announces 7,000 Closed Cases on Behalf of Texas’ Seventh Congressional District

  • 7000 Cases Closed

Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) announced her office has successfully closed 7,000 constituent cases for residents of Texas’ Seventh Congressional District.  Her office assists residents with matters before federal agencies, including obtaining benefits from Social Security, Veterans Affairs, and Medicare, as well as addressing matters before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and obtaining visas and renewing passports.

“I am so proud we have been able to assist more than 7,000 constituents as they navigated various challenges in dealing with federal agencies,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher.  “I am grateful to the people of Texas’ Seventh Congressional District for trusting us to solve their problems and provide meaningful solutions.  That is what we are here to do.  It is a privilege to represent this district and to serve our neighbors every day.”

Below are some testimonials from constituents Congresswoman Fletcher and her team have helped:

“I cannot thank Lizzie’s office enough for being such a big help. I contacted the office out of desperation after we ran into an unusual delay in State Department paperwork for my parent’s visa.

“The office response was prompt, polite, and professional. They promptly responded and followed up with two calls within two days asking for details of the case. Then, with the information, they reached out to the right department. Lo and behold, within a week, we received the communication that we had been waiting for months. It is fantastic to know your congresswoman has your back. It is even more so to know she does it with respect and diligence. Thank you wholeheartedly for following up on the case, which led to a quick response. I especially would like to thank Shirley in the congresswoman’s office for her efforts in resolving the case.”

“I am a female small business owner in Texas’ Seventh Congressional District in Houston. COVID-19 has deeply affected by business revenue over the last 18 months. As I was eligible, I applied for the Small Business Administration (SBA) Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) in April 2021. Like many others, I received email after email form the SBA office requesting information. The information was provided time and time again, only to be told the information was received but had not been uploaded to my files.

“As of October 20, 2021, I was still receiving emails requesting the same data provided at least 15 times. At this point, I contacted Congresswoman Fletcher’s Office to see if any help could be provided. She and her staff responded to me immediately (same day). Ms. Fletcher’s Office contacted the SBA and within four days, I received a phone call from the SBA Public Information Office. This office uploaded my documents while I was on the phone with them and indicated my loan application had been placed with a high priority team. Lizzie Fletcher truly supports and stands up for her constituents. The same cannot be said for most politicians. I will support her endeavors for the betterment of her district, as I truly believe that is her reason for holding public office. Thank you!”

“I applied for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and Advanced Parole (AP) renewal on December 3, 2020. The biometrics were updated in January 2021. There were no further updates to my case and my EAD card expired on May 30, 2021. I got an automatic 180-day extension. The extension was set to expire at the end of November 2021, leaving me unable to work. Suspending my employment would have severe consequences on my team, employer, and family. Additionally, I was unable to travel outside the U.S. for an important family event.

“I submitted a service request with USCIS and did not receive a response. My lawyer advised that I contact Congresswoman Fletcher’s Office. I contacted Congresswoman Fletcher’s Office on October 20, 2021 to inquire about my case with USCIS. The office acted promptly to address my issue and submitted a request with USCIS to address the delay in my case. On November 1st, USCIS emailed Congresswoman Fletcher’s Office notifying them my case was approved for expedited processing. Two hours after the email, I received a notification that a new card was being produced. To tell you the truth, it was almost too good to be true.

“The experience I had with Congresswoman Fletcher’s Office was nothing but amazing. The team cared about my case and was in continuous communication with me.

“Thank you very much, Congresswoman Fletcher and your team! I truly appreciate your help and support in getting my case approved and avoiding all the negative consequences of suspending my employment.”
