U.S. Postal Stations Meet Audit Recommendations Following Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher’s Request

Following Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher’s (TX-07) request for an investigation, the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General (USPS OIG) announced the post offices have met all recommendations outlined in the OIG’s audit report dated December 6, 2021.  In June 2021, Congresswoman Fletcher called on Postmaster Inspector General Whitcomb to investigate mail service disruptions, stolen and lost mail, and burglarized mailboxes.  Since then, the USPS OIG conducted an investigation, issued recommendations to fix persistent problems, and has officially closed its investigation of the Ashford West and Westbury postal stations after Postal Service District Management met all recommendations.

“The U.S. Postal Service and its dedicated employees provide an essential service to people and businesses across our community, especially during these difficult times,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher.  “I am grateful for the work and cooperation of the Inspector General’s Office, as well as local Postal District management, in meeting all audit recommendations and correcting mail service disruptions to restore the full, intended operation of our postal stations.  Our community relies on the timely delivery of mail for medications, payments, communication with servicemembers, wedding announcements, friends offering condolences, and more.  It is critical that we ensure mail is delivered safely and delivered promptly.  As our office works to ensure optimal postal service for residents in our community, I thank everyone for their diligence, patience, and input.”
