January 28, 2023
Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) was re-appointed to serve on the House Committee on Energy & Commerce in the 118th Congress. The Committee has wide jurisdiction over issues important to Texas’ Seventh Congressional District, including health care and energy. Congresswoman Fletcher will serve on the Subcommittee on Energy, Climate, and Grid Security and the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology. “Serving on the Energy & Commerce Committee allows me to bring the important perspectives of the people who live and work in Texas’s Seventh Congressional District when crafting policy on issues critical to our community and our country,” said Congresswoman Fletcher. “In particular, as the energy capital of the world, Houston is home to every segment of the energy sector, from traditional to renewable, and is a hub for energy innovation. Likewise, Houston is home to some of the best healthcare providers, researchers, and innovators in our country who are important partners in our efforts to improve healthcare for all Americans. I look forward to working with them to build on my Committee work in the 117th Congress in the years ahead.” The Energy & Commerce Committee is the oldest standing legislative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives and has the broadest jurisdiction of any congressional authorizing committee. The Committee’s jurisdiction areas include energy, health care, telecommunications, consumer protection, food and drug safety, public health and research, environmental quality, and interstate and foreign commerce.
