U.S. Rep. Lizzie Fletcher recently opened a new district office in Sugar Land.

A ribbon cutting and open house were held at the new office located in the Offices at Kensington, 1600 Highway 6, Suite 455 in Sugar Land. Fletcher’s Central Houston Office is located at 3700 Buffalo Speedway, Suite 610 in Houston.

Fletcher was first elected in 2018 to represent Texas District 7, which meanders through portions of Harris and Fort Bend counties. The district includes portions of Sugar Land, Bellaire, West University Place, Southside Place, Mission Bend, Four Corners and Westchase.

After redistricting following the 2020 census, District 7 shifted from including portions of north Harris County including Cypress and Copperfield to the areas of Fort Bend County.

“I am proud to represent so many people in Fort Bend County in congress, and am thrilled to open a district office in Sugar Land to serve them,” Fletcher said. “I was honored and delighted that so many leaders from Fort Bend County and the city of Sugar Land joined neighbors from across the district to celebrate the official opening of our new office.

“I am grateful for the partnership of people across Texas’ diverse and dynamic Texas’ 7th Congressional District, and I look forward to continuing to work together for our community and country.”

Among those on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony were State Reps. Ron Reynolds and Suleman Lalani; Fort Bend County commissioners Grady Prestage, Dexter McCoy and Andy Meyers; Sugar Land Mayor Joe Zimmerman; Sugar Land City Council members William Ferguson, Naushad Kermally, Carol McCutcheon and Suzanne Whatley; Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan; Fort Bend County Court at Law 3 Judge Juli Matthew; Fort Bend County Treasurer Bill Rickert; and President of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce King Banerjee. Representatives from the office of Fort Bend County Judge KP George, the University of Houston at Sugar Land, and the Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce of Texas were also present.
