Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) released the following statement following the death of fellow Texan and reproductive rights champion Cecile Richards:

“I join our community in Houston and people across our country in mourning the loss of Cecile Richards, a trailblazer for women and girls in Texas and across our country.  Like so many Texas women before her—including her mother, Governor Ann Richards—Cecile led the fight for reproductive rights with tenacity, fearlessness, and strength.  She was a formidable champion for the dignity of every woman and for the ability for all Americans to make decisions about their own bodies.  All Americans have benefited from the work of Cecile Richards.  And we will continue to benefit from and be inspired by her work for generations to come.”
