On Thursday, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) hosted a virtual town hall on the federal government shutdown. She was joined by representatives from the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and Community Health Choice, who spoke about the shutdown’s impact on federal employees and the public, identified resources, and answered questions about how to navigate open enrollment and increased health insurance premiums. “These are very difficult times in so many ways for people across our community and across the country,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. “That is why it is critical that our community stay engaged and informed. I was glad to lead this conversation with representatives from AFGE and Community Health Choice, who provided much-needed resources to our neighbors. I am committed to reopening the government and meeting the needs of the American people, and urge congressional Republicans to return to Washington and work with Democrats to do so.” Since her election to office, Congresswoman Fletcher has held dozens of events in the community to engage directly with residents of Texas’ Seventh Congressional District.
