Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher Votes Against Federal Funding for ICE
Washington,
February 3, 2026
Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) voted against a bill, Concurring in the Senate Amendments to H.R. 7148, to fund the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for two weeks, and multiple other federal agencies for Fiscal Year 2026. “When Americans are being killed, detained, harassed, and silenced by this government, we do not need a two-week negotiation period, we need reforms. Today’s resolution to continue funding DHS for two weeks while negotiating reforms, and funding the remaining government agencies, does not meet the urgency of the moment. There should be no higher priority for this Congress than protecting the people that we represent and the Constitution that we rely on for our rights, and which is being violated daily by officials who have sworn an oath to protect and defend it.” The bill passed the House by a vote of 217-214 and now heads to the President’s desk for signature. |
