Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) released the following statement after President Trump posted a video on Truth Social with racist depictions of prominent Democrats, including former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama as apes.

“Since the launch of his first campaign, President Trump has spread racist tropes, rhetoric, and lies.  This video is the latest demonstration of President Trump’s unfitness to serve as President of the United States of America or to lead our diverse communities, armed forces, and country.”

“I am glad that some Republican elected officials have condemned this openly racist post—all Americans should.  I hope that this appalling episode prompts them to hold President Trump accountable not only for his rhetoric, but also for his policies that are as racist and un-American as this video.”
