(Houston, TX) – Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) announced $1,798,780 in federal CARES Act funding for two community health centers in Texas’ Seventh Congressional District. Specifically, Houston Area Community Services, Inc. will receive $912,080 and Saint Hope Foundation will receive $886,700. “Health care providers in my district are working around the clock to combat COVID-19. They are on the frontlines of this public health emergency, and I am glad to announce that funding we passed in Congress through the CARES Act is coming directly to our district,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. “I am grateful that both Houston Area Community Services and Saint Hope Foundation have received this funding so they have the resources they need to care for their patients during this time. Though this is a step in the right direction, I know our community will need more funds, and I will do everything in my power to get it.” The funding announced today is part of the first distribution of funding for hospitals and health care providers across the country provided through the CARES Act. $30 billion will be distributed, with $26 billion of the $30 billion expected to be delivered by the end of the day. Health care providers across Texas are expected to receive over $2 billion in funding. |
