(Washington, DC)—Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) today voted in support of H. Res. 24, the article of impeachment against President Trump for incitement of insurrection.  Fletcher is an original co-sponsor of this resolution, which passed the House today with bipartisan support, 232-197.

“I was in the chamber of the House of Representatives when the President assembled and unleashed a mob to attack the United States Capitol and the United States Congress—the elected representatives of the people.  By doing so, he incited an insurrection against our representative democracy itself,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher.  “It was an assault on our own government—and an impeachable offense.  For these reasons, I voted in support of today’s resolution.”

Thank you, Madam Speaker.

I rise today in support of the article of impeachment and in opposition to the gaslighting that is masquerading as debate in this chamber today.

I was in this chamber when the President assembled and unleashed a mob to attack the United States Capitol and the United States Congress—the elected representatives of the people.

By doing so, he incited an insurrection against our representative democracy itself.

If that is not an impeachable offense, then what is?

Thank you, Madam Speaker.  I yield back.
