Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) joined Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff and Small Business Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman in visiting with community leaders and a diverse group of local small businesses to highlight the historic comeback of small businesses under the Biden-Harris Administration.  The group met with small business owners who have utilized various Small Business Administration programs and discussed their ongoing needs, and heard from them about how they have worked to combat targeted discrimination and continue to recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The group visited Bismillah Restaurant & Café, Pronto Shipping and Packaging, and Kenny & Ziggy’s in Texas’ Seventh Congressional District.

“I was so proud to join small business owners across Texas’ Seventh Congressional District’s diverse and dynamic community today and to welcome Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff and Small Business Administrator Isabella Casillas,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher.  “Small businesses are essential pillars of our community and drivers of our economy, and I loved hearing from them about their experiences.  I look forward to continuing to support policies that strengthen our community, our businesses, and our economy.”

Applications to start new businesses have reached record highs since the start of the Biden-Harris administration.  In Texas, more than 965,000 people applied to start a new business in 2021 and 2022.
