Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) released her 2021 Mid-Year Report detailing her work in the first half of this year. The report highlights Congresswoman Fletcher’s constituent casework successes, support available to families through the American Rescue Plan, legislation Congresswoman Fletcher has introduced, and more.
“It is an honor to represent Texas’ Seventh Congressional District in the United States Congress. The first six months of the 117th Congress have been eventful—from responding to COVID-19 and the Winter Storm, helping our neighbors get the help they need from federal agencies, to introducing legislation and passing legislation that is important tour community,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. “I am glad to share some of the highlights in this mid-year report, and I look forward to continuing this work in the months ahead.”
Highlights in the 2021 Mid-Year Report include:
- Constituent Casework: During her time in office, Congresswoman Fletcher’s office has resolved more than 5,000 constituent cases involving federal agencies, including 1,587 in the first six months of 2021 alone.
- Connecting with Constituents: Congresswoman Fletcher has hosted eight virtual and telephone town halls to answer questions directly from constituents in 2021.
- The American Rescue Plan: As a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, Congresswoman Fletcher worked to incorporate provisions in the American Rescue Plan to lower the costs of health care for families across the district, incentivize states to expand Medicaid, and support families, businesses, and communities as they recover from the pandemic.
- Legislation: Bills that Congresswoman Fletcher introduced in the House of Representatives this year include:
- Expand Medicaid Now Act: Legislation to encourage states to expand Medicaid by increasing federal funds for any new expansion state. This bill was signed into law as a part of the American Rescue Plan.
- LIFT UP Act: Legislation to support Houston small businesses that took out CARES Act loans to help them recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and had also received previous SBA loans by extending the six-month period of debt forgiveness.
- HELP Act: Legislation to allow certain eligible disaster mitigation projects to begin without the risk of losing potential federal funds, expediting recovery efforts after a natural disaster.
- CARS for Vets Act: Legislation to expand the eligibility of service-connected disabled veterans to receive grants for additional modified vehicles and ensure they can live independent and mobile lives.
