Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher Hosts U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai During Houston Visit

Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) hosted U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai during her visit to Houston for a roundtable conversation with community leaders in honor of Women’s History Month.  Later, Congresswoman Fletcher and Ambassador Tai toured the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.  Rise Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Board Chair Rogene Calvert; President and CEO of the Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Suzan Deison; Asian Chamber of Commerce Director of Operations Barbara Gallo; Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce President Nicole Streeter; President and CEO of the Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce Tammi Wallace; President and CEO of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Keri Schmidt; and National Council of Jewish Women Houston Executive Director Jennifer Reichek participated in the roundtable.

“I was glad to join Ambassador Tai to hear from women community leaders about trade and other matters, and to discuss the economic impact of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher.  “As a representative of Houston, a center for international business and global trade, I understand the importance of trade to our region, and I look forward to working with Ambassador Tai and the Biden administration to support worker-centered trade policies that strengthen our community and our economy.”

Congresswoman Fletcher serves as Chair of the New Democrat Coalition Trade Task Force.  In the 116th and the 117th Congresses, Congresswoman Fletcher served as Co-Chair of the New Democrat Coalition Trade Task Force, where she successfully worked to provide tariff relief for businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic and to eliminate retaliatory tariffs from the European Union and the United Kingdom.
